Saturday’s Whales of the Bay cruise delivered beautiful weather and an unforgettable wildlife encounter just beyond the Golden Gate Bridge. About a mile outside the Gate, we spotted one, possibly two, humpback whales. Guests enjoyed close views for nearly half of the tour, but the highlight came when one whale surfaced less than 20 feet from ENHYDRA. It was a breathtaking moment that had everyone onboard buzzing with excitement. The humpbacks weren’t our only wildlife sightings. We also encountered harbor porpoises, sea lions, and a variety of pelagic seabirds along the way. With calm conditions, incredible views, and a truly memorable whale encounter, it was an amazing Saturday on San Francisco Bay. Every cruise is different, and days like this remind us just how much there is to discover beyond the Golden Gate.
