What will the weather be like?
For current weather conditions, please visit www.weather.com and search for ZIP code 94133.
Will my cruise be cancelled if the weather is bad?
We cruise San Francisco Bay rain or shine. Only on the rarest of occasions do we cancel a cruise due to stormy weather conditions.
Is it safe to go on the Bay during King Tides?
Yes. Cruises with Red and White Fleet operate safely during King Tides.
King Tides are naturally occurring higher-than-normal tides that happen a few times a year. They are predictable and closely monitored. Our experienced captains and crew continuously assess weather and water conditions and operate in full compliance with U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations.
Passenger safety is always our top priority. If conditions were ever deemed unsafe, we would delay or cancel a departure.
King Tides can actually make for a unique Bay experience, offering dramatic waterfront views and powerful tidal movement — all from the comfort and stability of our vessels.
What about the famous San Francisco fog?
Fog is part of the magic of the Bay and cruising with Red and White Fleet is still a fantastic experience, even when it rolls in.
San Francisco’s fog is natural, often patchy, and typically shifts throughout the day. Many cruises enjoy clear views at some points along the route, even if another area is misty. And when the fog does surround the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz, it creates a dramatic, uniquely “San Francisco” atmosphere you won’t see anywhere else.
Our vessels feature spacious indoor cabins with large viewing windows, as well as open-air decks so you’ll stay comfortable while taking in the views, whatever the weather.
Fog or sunshine, it’s always a memorable experience on the Bay.
Is the vessel certified and safe?
All of our vessels are certified by the US Coast Guard and undergo annual inspections.
Is the cruise accessible for guests with disabilities?
The enclosed main decks of all our vessels are wheelchair accessible. For additional information, please call (415) 673-2900.
Important: the ramps leading on to and off the vessels vary in steepness depending on tide levels. While our crew will make every attempt to assist guests, boarding can be difficult particularly during low tide. To view daily tide conditions, please click here.
What clothing should I wear?
San Francisco has many microclimates with frequent weather changes. It can be windy and cold on San Francisco Bay one moment, and hot and sunny the next. So we recommend that you dress in layers and bring a jacket to make sure you are comfortable throughout your tour. In case it rains, don’t worry as all of our boats have heated interiors with big viewing windows.
